Gratitude is one of the greatest habits you can inculcate in your life. When you are grateful, you are happy. When you’re happy, you are healthy. Since Thanksgiving is almost here, I have prepared 5 questions for you to ask yourself:
1) What teacher are you most thankful for and why? What did you learn from him or her?
Teachers play a huge role in shaping your life, either for the good or bad. Teachers can be anyone, your parents, siblings, friends or professors from school and college. Think about who you are most grateful for and let them know how they helped you shape your life.
2) What book are you most grateful for, and why?
Just like the teachers, books also play a major role in shaping your life. There are people who dislike reading and there are people who live to read. For the latter group of people, go back in time and try to remember a book that moved you.
3) Name three days in your life that you feel especially grateful for.
Since I am an optimistic person like me, I can name more than three best days of my life. And if you are like me, awesome! But no matter how difficult your life has been, think about at least three days where you feel most empowered and happy. It helps you appreciate life a little more!
4) What vacation are you most grateful for?
Think about this for a minute. Do you travel enough? If not, then find time as soon as possible and go for a week-long vacation. If you are a traveler, then express your gratitude towards these trips.
5) Which is the best gift you gave someone this year?
No matter how society changes with time, gift-giving will always be a part of the culture. People like you more when you give them gifts because it makes them value your relationship with them. So if you haven’t gifted anyone anything yet, it’s not too late. For NRIs, send gifts to India to your loved ones and express your gratitude.
